KATHUA, Dec 30: Dr Bharat Bhushan, the BJP MLA from Kathua Assembly Constituency, today visited the J&K Housing Board Colony in Kathua to address the grievances of local residents.
During his visit, he was welcomed by the Residents Welfare Committee (RWC), which presented a detailed list of demands.
Dr Shashi Pal Singh, President of the RWC, highlighted several long-standing issues faced by the colony, established in 1992 across 700 Kanals of land.
Despite its decades of existence, he told the BJP MLA that the colony lacks essential infrastructure, including a proper water supply, complete electrification, well-maintained internal roads, a sewage system, and a boundary wall.
“There is also a need for community spaces like a hall, commercial complex, gymnasium, and enhanced security measures such as entry gates and fencing,” Dr Shashi Pal Singh told the visiting MLA.
The residents expressed their frustration over the Government’s neglect in developing the first-ever housing colony in Kathua district, stressing the difficulties they face due to the lack of basic facilities.
Dr Bhushan listened attentively to their concerns and assured the residents that he would make every effort to address the issues at the earliest.
The meeting was also attended by prominent figures including Prof (Dr) Ram Murti Sharma, former SSP Sardar Khan, Ravi Dass Sharma, and AK Dingra, who expressed their support for the residents’ demands.
