MLA Mendhar reviews status of development works

MENDHAR, May 1: To review the implementation of various development projects in PWD (R&B), PDD and PHE sectors in Mendhar Sub-Division, Member Legislative Assembly, Javed Ahmed Rana today convened a meeting of officers at Dak Bungalow here.
The MLA called for judicious use of available funds and adherence to fixed timelines for completion of ongoing projects.
Reviewing the functioning of PDD sector, the MLA asked for upgradation of power infrastructure and instructed for immediate replacement of wooden poles for which adequate funds have been made available to the department. He also directed for immediate shifting of transformers installed of wooden poles. The MLA asked the concerned officers for coverage of uncovered villages and far-off hamlets in the Sub-Division.
Reviewing the status of PHE schemes of Gursai block for which Rs 4 crores have recently been sanctioned under NABARD, Rana instructed the officers for preparation of fault free DPRs so that the new projects do not meet the fate of several previous non-functional water supply schemes. He stressed for strengthening of already installed water supply schemes and efficient management of manpower.
The MLA also reviewed the road connectivity in the Sub-Division and directed the R&B authorities to immediately float tenders for upgradation and for taking up newly approved works. Instructions were issued in this regard for 42 roads in the Sub-Division. Rana asked the AEE R&B Mendhar to fast-track work on projects that have failed to meet time line.
Meanwhile, several deputations of locals called on the MLA and brought several issues of public importance to his notice. Issues of law and order, increasing drug menace, absenteeism in Government offices were among several other issues raised by different deputations.
The MLA while responding to the deputations, assured to resolve their grievances. The MLA instructed the Sub-Divisional Administration to check absenteeism in different Government offices. He also stressed for strengthening of Police-public relations to counter varied crimes in society. Instant instructions were also issued to several concerned officers for immediate addressing of issues raised by the deputations.
