Srinagar, Sept 24: Police today detained Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Langate Engineer Abdul Rasheed near Banihal as he was supposed to go to Rajouri to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha
A spokesman of his Awami Itehad Party (AIP) said here that Rashid was supposed to offer Eid prayers in Rajouri but he was stopped by a large contingent of police near Jawahar Tunnel and was detained.
“AIP President was on way to Rajouri as he had announced to offer Eid prayers there to show solidarity with the Jammu Muslims,” the spokesman said adding that prior to his Rajouri visit, he was scheduled to start signature campaign at Banihal over beef ban.
The AIP spokesman added that Rashid was shifted to Anantnag but “was not released”.
