Srinagar, Aug 10: Independent Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) and president of Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) Abdul Rashid today started a 50 hour long sit-in outside Civil Secretariat, seeking IIT, IIM and IIMC for Kashmir valley.
The MLA along with supporters sat just opposite to the main entrance of the Secretariat.
Talking to media persons, the MLA alleged discrimination with the people of Valley and said: Kashmiri are always being treated as beggars and second class citizens by New Delhi and political and social leadership of Kashmir people need to rise above their personnel interests to tell New Delhi that you can’t always take us for granted. If GoI could easily agree to demand of Jammuites to establish AIIMS at Jammu besides IIM and IIT already approved for the Jammu province, then how could it treat the larger province of Kashmir which includes Ladakh also unattended and unaddressed.”
