POONCH, May 19: With an aim to review the functioning of Education Department in Mendhar area of Poonch district and to ensure that deficiencies are removed at the earliest, Member Legislative Assembly Mendhar, Javed Rana, today held a meeting of the department.
Senior officers of education department along with Principals of all Higher Secondary Schools and cluster heads of the area participated in the meeting and briefed the MLA about the issues of department which primarily included shortage of basic infrastructure in the schools which was hampering the education standard of the area.
After reviewing the functioning of department, MLA said that education is one of his top priority and no stone will be left upturned in bringing betterment in the department. Taking note of shortage of basic infrastructure, MLA announced to provide a total of 640 desks in schools of Higher Secondary and High level with 300 desks in Boys Higher Secondary School Mendhar which is worst affected with the shortage.
He also announced to provide funds from CDF to construct playgrounds in all High and Higher Secondary Schools of Mendhar with an aim to ensure that students get enough facilities of co-curricular activities and overall development of their life is ensured.
Besides this, Rana also appreciated teachers of the area who are uplifting the standard of education in the area despite having shortage of basic infrastructure. He however has demanded a high level probe into alleged misuse of funds meant for construction of buildings.
The MLA directed CEO Poonch to conduct exercise of recently clubbed schools of the area and to take steps for re-opening of schools where clubbing has created problems for students. He also asked CEO Poonch to submit a report regarding vacant posts of teaching and other staff in schools of the area so that the same could be projected before the Government with an aim to fill the vacancies.
Besides, he has also announced to issue funds shortly from CDF for construction of protections walls around a couple of institutions of the area.
