JAMMU, Apr 14: Senior BJP leader and MLA, Arvind Gupta here today toured Mazdoor Basti in Toph Sherkhania area and met with locals to take stock of their day-to-day issues.
The locals informed the MLA about water scarcity in the area and claimed that officials of Jal Shakti Department have adopted a careless and indifferent attitude and they make hollow excuses every time when the issue of water shortage is raised.
The MLA said: “How can we talk about development and progress when the people don’t even have water to drink?”
He asked the concerned officials to be accountable.
Gupta asked the Minister of Jal Shakti Department to take serious note of this alarming issue as the summers have approached.
Gupta further asked the concerned Minister that water is a basic human right and the people of Mazdoor Basti deserve better and BJP stands firmly with them in their fight for justice and dignity.
