SRINAGAR, July 9: Dr. Shehnaz Ganai, Member of the Legislative Council, called on N.N Vohra, Governor, here at the Raj Bhavan today and discussed with the Governor various matters relating to the governance and development of the State.
Shantmanu, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), J&K, called on Governor and apprised him about the functioning of the CEO’s office, particularly the various measures initiated for creating awareness among people about their “Right To Vote”, and the continuous process of updating of electoral rolls and other important activities.
Dr. Aziz Hajini, Secretary, JK Academy of Art, Culture and Languages also called on Governor and briefed him about the activities of the Academy which he is planning to initiate in the fields of indigenous art, literature, languages etc. within and outside the State.
He also apprised the Governor about the progress so far achieved in regard to the renovation of Abhinav Theatre, Tehzeeb Mahal and Tagore Hall.
The Governor urged Dr. Hajini to strive vigorously in pursuing the objectives of the Academy in promoting quality and excellence in all its activities and wished him high success in all his endeavours.
Meanwhile, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J), called on Governor and briefed him about the status of admissions to the under-graduate and post-graduate courses; the pressing academic and administrative issues relating to the institution; and the difficulties arising from the inadequacy of financial resources.
The Governor advised the Vice Chancellor to take sustained initiatives for boosting research and extension activities; securing visible improvement in the production and productivity levels and ensuring efficient functioning of all the KVKs under the University.
