JAMMU, Nov 15: Ramesh Arora, Member J&K Legislative Council, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Arora informed the Governor about several important growth and developmental challenges which face the people of Jammu region and the difficulties faced by the people of the State because of the disturbance of peace and normalcy.
The Governor conveyed to Arora his heartfelt condolences over the recent sad demise of his son and advised him to vigorously pursue the implementation of developmental programmes in the State.
Dr. Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi, Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir also met Governor.
In the context of the continuing unrest in the Valley, Dr. Andrabi informed the Governor about the extent to which the University is functioning.
The Governor stressed the crucial importance of conducting regular studies, timely completion of courses and examinations and every possible step being taken to enable the students to make up the lost time.
Sarita Chauhan, Chairperson J&K Services Selection Board (SSB), also called on Governor.
Chauhan briefed the Governor about functioning of the J&K SSB and steps being taken to streamline the recruitment processes.
The Governor advised Chauhan to ensure that the Board establishes, without loss of time, procedures and processes which enable timely, transparent and credible selections for filling up all vacancies in the administrative apparatus. He stressed that only merit based selections would promote people’s faith and trust in governmental functioning.
