MLC, Secy Tourism call on Governor

SRINAGAR, Aug 24: Zaffar Manhas, Member, Legislative Council, called on Governor  N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.
The Governor and Manhas discussed the obtaining situation in the State. The Governor stressed the crucial importance of urgent restoration of peace and normalcy and urged Manhas to vigorously continue his initiatives in this regard.
Farooq Ahmad Shah, Secretary Tourism Department also called on Governor and briefed him about the various initiatives being taken by his department for the promotion of tourism in each of the three regions of the State.
Observing that the growth of the tourism sector must receive high attention as it has the highest potential for employment generation, the Governor urged Shah to launch well planned initiatives to promote winter tourism and, side by side, implement efforts to clean up the major tourist visitation areas, improve the street picture and beautification through façade control of shopping and residential areas.
In this context, he pointed to the need of improving the walking track and the aesthetics of the entire road along the Dal lake.
