SRINAGAR, Sept 28: Saifuddin Bhat, Member Legislative Council, met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan here today and apprised him about various developmental issues relating to his area and for ensuring all round development of the State.
Governor urged Bhat to continuously work for the welfare of the people.
Charanjeet Singh Khalsa, Member, J&K Legislative Council also called on Governor and apprised him about several matters of public importance, particularly those relating to Sikh Community and grievances of Sikh families from Pak Occupied J&K (POJK) and those affected due to terrorism in the Valley.
Governor advised the MLC to vigorously continue his endeavours for ensuring public welfare and strengthening communal harmony between all communities.
Jag Jeevan Lal, former Minister discussed with Governor various issues of public importance and regarding ensuring holistic development of the State.
Governor urged Lal to continue his sustained endeavors for public welfare.
Meanwhile, Dineshwar Sharma, Union Special Representative for Dialogue in J&K, called on Governor and discussed a range of issues relating to the internal security situation, developmental scenario, initiatives required for restoration of peace and normalcy and regaining the trust and confidence of the youth in the State.
Governor and Sharma discussed crucial importance of empowering people through upcoming ULB and Panchayat polls and strengthening democratic institutions at grass root level for ensuring holistic development of the State.
Shailendra Kumar, Principal Secretary Industries and Commerce Department also met Governor and briefed him about important initiatives taken in regard to industrial promotion, enhancing entrepreneurial environment and advancing the growth of cottage and village industries and the handicrafts and the handloom sector in the State.
Governor stressed the importance of every possible effort being made for balanced growth of the State through sustainable utilization of all available natural resources in the State.
Sheikh Khalid Jehangir, BJP Spokesperson and Senior Fellow at India Foundation and apprised Governor about certain issues relating to the growth and development of the State and aspirations of youth. He informed Governor that many young voters are facing difficulty in finding their names in the Voter lists and requested urgent updating of these lists so that they could exercise their franchise in the upcoming ULB elections.
Governor assured that the issues raised by him will be taken up the concerned authorities and urged Jehangir to continue his sustained endeavoursfor the promoting welfare of the youth.
