MMI Jammu organizes workshop on parent-child relationship

JAMMU, Mar 30: Modern Montessori International (MMI) Pre-school London, Jammu branch organized an interactive workshop on parent-child relationship and significance of Montessori schooling.
The function started with welcome address by co-ordinator of the workshop, Monica Sehgal. Thereafter, Principal Pragya Gupta presented bouquets to the distinguished guests Pallavi Sachdeva, Assistant Prof (Psychology) and Shria Abrol, RCI Counsellor.
In the first session of the workshop, Dr Pallavi Sachdeva highlighted parent-child relationship. “It is not the toys, money or gifts which make you a good parent but it is your time which gives happiness and joy to your child,” she asserted.
She narrated stories of children to highlight the problems of children and parents. She explained some formulas to make cordial and healthy bonds among child and mother. She said, “Children are life in themselves, they need atmosphere where they can excel and come up as independent entity.”
In the 2nd session, Shria Abrol laid emphasis on importance of ‘Learning by Doing’ and explained benefits of Montessori education and how children are groomed in Montessori schools. She highlighted that in Montessori schools children gain confidence and become independent. She also named some people from Montessori background like Jeff Bezos (Financial Analyst, founder of Amazon.com) and Jimmy Wales (founder of Wikpedia), who are excelling in their life.
Abrol also talked about the pressure of conventional schooling. She said, “Parents’ involvement is key to child’s success. Parents are child’s first teachers. They have ability to influence their child’s education more than any other person.”
The third session began with Montessori presentation by Principal Pragya Gupta and class Directresses – Kushboo Gupta and Shilpa Deol. Different activities from practical life, sensorial, language, mathematics and culture were presented. Avin Anand from Kindergarten gave presentation of Coloured Globe.
The last session was Question/Answer session in which various queries of the parents were answered by the guest speakers.
The event concluded with presentation of mementoes to the guests by Director of the School Sapna Rohmetra and vote of thanks presented by Monica Sehgal.
