MNS leaders incliding city president Nilesh Chavan arrested toll booth vandalised case

THANE, Feb 21:
A total of 15 persons belonging to the Raj Thackeray lead Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS) including the city president Nilesh Chavan were today arrested by the Thane city police on the alleged charges of vandalizing the Kharigaon Toll Naka.
The police said that the crowd belonging to the MNS had ransacked the toll booth as a fall out of one of the employees abusing the MNS Chief Raj Thackeray.
A group of Sena women’s wings leaders were passing by the toll booth and the toll operator asked them to pay toll to which they demanded facility like ambulance and toilet.   There ensued a wordy duel between the leaders and the toll employees after which one of them is understood to have abused Raj Thackery which irritated the MNS Activists who raided the toll booth.
At about the same time RajThackeray passed by that toll booth and the situation aggravated later on with more MNS activists joining and renewing the attack and smashing the accessories and computers.
The police resorted to a lathi charge to quell the irate mob and deployed additional bandobust at the location.   Today the police arrested the city unit chief Chavan besides the other office barers including Suresh Kolte, D K Mhatre, Nayan Chavan, Manohar Sukhdare, Susahant Suryarao, Ravindra more, Santosh Ubale, Ashok Santat, Janardhan Dalvi, Manohar Thackeray, Mandan Patil and Sanjay Patil.
PI R D Malekar enquiring into the crime told this correspondent in the night that the MNS activists and leaders have been charged under sections 143,147,149 and 427 of the IPC. (UNI)
