Mob sets matador ablaze

KATHUA, June 12: Enraged over the death of a seven year old girl in a road accident, the people in Nagri Parole area of Kathua district today set ablaze a matador, protested against the Traffic Police and administration for increasing road accidents and their failure in acting against the negligent and rash driving.
After a seven year old girl Vaishali , D/o Balwinder Kumar was run over by a speedy matador bearing number JK08 A2403 at a crossing at Arma Morh near here, the people of the area gathered within seconds and set the matador ablaze.
The protestors numbering about 4000 even did not allow the fire brigade which was called to control the blaze and save the matador from damage to put off the fire. The protesting mob warned its staff not to go ahead otherwise they will set fire brigade ablaze too.
The people shouted slogans against the administration and Traffic Police saying that they have failed to check the negligent and rash driving which is the cause of increasing accidents in the area as well as National Highway.
The driver of the matador whom police identified as Jet fled after the accident. The matador was on its way from Kathua to Bamyal and after reaching at Arma Morh in Nagri Parole, the driver while taking a turn hit a little girl who was coming from opposite direction resulting in her instant death.
The Kathua Police has registered a case under relevant Sections of the law and seized the matador also.
