JAMMU, Jan 18: An eight-day Model Training Course (MTC) on “Marketing Research for Value Chain in Fruits” began today at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu.
The course is sponsored by Department of Agriculture & Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture and being organized by Division of Agricultural Economics & ABM, Faculty of Agriculture. The training programme will give clear understanding of value chain mechanisms and tools, which can be used to implement, develop projects, and negotiate with potential buyers in their respective areas.
Dr P K Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-J, was the chief guest on the occasion. Speaking at the inaugural function, the VC briefed about the importance of marketing and value chain in the Agricultural sector and emphasized that all stakeholders should have the proper knowledge in value chain management for getting best price for agricultural production.
The training programme has been sponsored by the Directorate of Extension, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Govt of India. A total number of 24 delegates from the State line departments of Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir are participating in the training programme.
Dr R K Arora, Associate Director Extension, briefed about the collaborative projects of Ministry of Agriculture and Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-Jammu. Dr Jyoti Kachroo, Head of the division, presented the welcome address and highlights the main themes to be covered during the eight days of training programme.
The inaugural session of Model Training Course ended with a vote of thanks, presented by Course Director, Dr Anil Bhat.
