JAMMU, Dec 12: In the ongoing Silk India Exhibition at Kala Kendra here near Bikram Chowk, models today in a programme on the theme of silk walked on the ramp to display the beauty of silk under the banner of Silk Era.
During this programme models attired in silk sarees and suits walked the ramp adding colours to the beauty of silk clothes. Keeping in view the chilling weather, arrangement of Kashmiri round was also organized in which models wore pashmina shawls, shifan sarees and suits to exhibit skills of Kashmiri weavers.
Organizer of the exhibition T Abhinand informed that purpose of this exhibition was to highlight skills of Indian weavers. In this exhibition professional models highlighted the skills of weavers from different parts of the country.
About 12 models highlighted skills of weavers from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in this exhibition. The first show of the exhibition was a Kashmiri one in which models highlighted Kani work based sarees of silk, suits and shifan and pashmina shawls by walking on the ramp.
In second round models highlighted West Bengal, Assam, Andhra hand painting silk sarees along with silk clothes of Bihar, UP, Punjab and other States. Attired in sarees of above mentioned styles, models entered ramp amidst clapping and lauding by public.
In third round models attired in Lakhanavi chicken sarees and suits walked on the ramp.
The last round was a traditional one in which models displayed beauty of Maheshwari Chanderi and traditional Pathni Saree by Cat Walk. Choreographer of the show was Sanjar Markani. A big gathering witnessed the show.
The weavers also walked on the ramp and made the gathering aware about difficulties and challenges in making these silk sarees.
The organizer T Abhinand informed that last exhibitions were very much liked by the people. Many skill lovers also visited the exhibition, he added.
