Modi continues tirade against Congress

BANGALORE, Nov 17:  BJP Prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi continued his tirade against UPA Government led by Congress at the Centre.

Addressing a much publicised mammoth rally at the Palace Ground here, Mr Modi alleged that Congress is not interested in empowering youth, economic development of the country nor in controlling the inflation.

Alleging that the Congress led UPA government is surviving curtsey CBI, Mr Modi said whenever there is threat by alliance parties to withdraw the CBI opens file and blackmail the leaders and that is how dictatorship was established.  ‘The present ruling by UPA government leads to remember Emergency period when there was ban on Media and leaders who spoke against the government were jailed,’ he added.

Strongly condemning alleged charges against him, Mr Modi said that ‘war on BJP and me is increasing as Congress cannot digest the overwhelming response to the party (BJP) getting as Lok Sabha elections are nearing, but wave against Kesari brigade has already started through out the country and nobody can stop it.

Stating that if there is a need to change the direction of the country, there is a need to implement the slogans of former Prime Ministers Lal Bahadur Shastri and A B Vajpayee which read ‘Jai Javan, Jai Kissan’ and ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kissan, Jai Vigilance’.

Mr Modi demanded a reply from Congress why the country could not become a developed nation even after 67 years of Independence when a small country like Japan has became a developed one with in a short span.

Taking strong exception to Congress favouring ban on publishing opinion polls on the Assembly election to four States, Mr Modi alleged ‘Congress is afraid that its true colours will come out and it may lose’. ‘But opinion by public against Congress is increasing ,’ he added.

Mr Modi alleged that Congress not interested in Youth, Democracy and Science but nourishing them as vote banks. According to Congress poverty is state of mind and not bothered about increasing inflation.

‘During Second Cricket test between India and West Indies recently at Wankhade stadium the bettings were going on whether Sachin will score a century or the Onion Prices will touch Rs 100. The Centre introduced Food Price increase Control but dropped,’he added.

He said that in 2011 he had given a small report on specific status on inflation and how to control to the Prime Minister who had appreciated the suggestions.  ‘In the report I had mentioned 20 point formula and 60 ways to control inflation, but the report was kept under file and was not implemented.’

‘In the report I had suggested that the Essential Commodities Act should be amended and those who indulge in black marketing should not get bail, special courts be set up for speedy disposal of cases and Hoarding should be jailed.  I had also suggested remodling Food Corporation of India (FCI) by introducing separate wings for Procurement, Storage and Distribution,’ he revealed.

Mr Modi said during Vajpayee regime Onion was brought under Essential Commodities Act and price was well under control during the six years of NDA rule, but now the UPA government has withdrawn it and the price is increasing beyond control. (UNI)
