JAMMU, Feb 7: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) while expressing its satisfaction over the statement of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in Rajya Sabha yesterday saying that Kashmiri’s identity was buried on January 19, 1990 when Kashmiri Pandits were forced to migrate from Valley, expressed the hope that present BJP Government at Centre will settle the long pending demand of exiled Pandits by rehabilitating them in their homeland by fulfilling their geo-political aspirations.
KPC chief Kundan Kashmiri while commenting on PM’s statement said that Narendra Modi is first Prime Minister who has really realized the pain and agony of the hapless KPs who being the indigenous people of Kashmir having a unflinching belief in the Philosophy of Sarv Dharma were forced to leave the Valley under hatched conspiracy. Terming the mass exodus of the Pandits as genocide of the community he said this was one of the largest exodus in the Sub Continent after partition of India in 1947.
Kashmiri said Prime Minister, Modi is the first Indian PM in last 30 years who realized the pain of the displaced people and is very particular for their rehabilitation in their homeland in Kashmir. “The displaced KPs have high hopes in PM and we believe that he will take the right decision in rehabilitation of the community in Kashmir not only with honour and dignity but by fulfilling the geo-political aspirations of the community so that it will not be uprooted from there again”.
Kashmiri, while inviting attention of Prime Minister towards plight of exiled KPs , said that the future of community seems to be uncertain and their present is full of miseries and distress. This patriotic community which has sacrificed every thing for the nation has been ignored in every form and nobody showed concern to mitigate their sufferings. The community is waiting for over three decades to get justice and it is hopeful that present Government will not let it down as was done by previous regimes.
Kashmiri, appealed PM that in view of all the factual position serious consideration be given to carve out ” one separate place” for Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley for rehabilitate of the community.
Other KPC leaders who addressed the meeting were Dr. H L Saraf, Tej Pandita, M N Raina, RL Raina, Susheel Bhat, Rajender Dhar, Sanjay Koul etc.
