LEH, Apr 22: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh today said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has, in the last five years, lived up to the commitment to ensure equitable development of all the three regions of the State, including Ladakh, Kashmir and Jammu.
Soon after his arrival here today, Dr Singh said, this was for the first time after 65 years that, during the Modi Government, the regional discrimination by the earlier Congress and UPA Governments was brought to an end. He said, one of the distinct examples of this is that it was the Modi Government at the Centre and the Governor’s rule in the State which issued orders for the creation of a separate administrative division for Ladakh region, thus addressing a long standing grievance that Ladakh felt unattended because of being a part of Kashmir Division with headquarters at Srinagar.
Singh recalled the frequent visits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Ladakh and said, that Modi has established a new tradition of visiting each of the three regions of the State, including Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir during each of his official visits to the State. This, he said, has sent out a loud and effective message of Modi’s commitment to treat all the three regions, including Ladakh, with equal attention and to separately address the requirements and needs of each of the three regions of the State.
Union MoS recalled that when he last time accompanied Prime Minister on his visit to Leh on February 3, this year, the Prime Minister had made several important inaugurations and launchings, which included the new University for Ladakh. He said, on the basis of the last five years’ record of the Modi Government, the people of Ladakh have sufficient reason to be assured that the development activity launched by the Modi Government will gain further momentum in the next five years.
Appealing for a vote for BJP, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the Modi Government had begun its first term in office on May 26, 2014 with the Prime Minister pledging that the far-flung and remote areas will be brought at par with the developed regions of the country and their untapped potentials will be exploited to the maximum. He said, Ladakh, like North East, is a testimony to the fulfillment of this declaration.
