NEW DELHI, June 8 : Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said here that, in addition to other initiatives taken to provide a work-friendly environment for the employees, the Modi Government in 3 years, also addressed the social concerns of its employees. While the service conditions were sought to be made easier by bringing about modifications like, for example, in General Provident Fund (GPF) rules, transfer policy, timeline for Inquiry etc., on the social and health front, he said, introduction of regular Yoga sessions, setting up of creches for infants of working parents, extending the duration of maternity leave to six months etc., are some of the decisions taken to address the employees’ social concerns.
Dr Jitendra Singh lauded the contribution of DoPT’s (Department of Personnel and Training) social organ, “Grih Kalyan Kendra” (GKK), a registered society, which is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee this year.
Releasing the Diamond Jubilee Souvenir of GKK, Dr Jitendra Singh said, ever since its inception under the aegis of DoPT, Government of India, GKK has played a significant role for the welfare of Central Government employees and their dependents through wide range of activities which include skill training for the wards of Government officials.
Three years of Modi Government, Dr Jitendra Singh said, have encouraged a wider diversification and spread of the GKK activities. As a result, he said, GKK today has as many as 45 “Samaj Sadans” in Delhi and outside and its activities have now also incorporated free Yoga training sessions for the Government employees and their families.
In keeping with the needs of changing times, Dr Jitendra Singh expressed satisfaction over the decision taken by GKK to set up creches and nursery schools to cater, in particular, to such children whose both parents are Government employees and who need such supplementary support. He also complimented the GKK for organising a successful blood donation cum free health check up camp at its Lodhi Road Headquarters last week. He said, in future also, the DoPT would continue efforts to address the new emerging social and health concerns through organs like GKK.
