UDHAMPUR, Apr 29:  Pradesh Congress Committee president Ghulam Ahmed Mir has said that BJP led NDA Government headed by Narendra Modi has failed to deliver on any single promise and it has been pursuing anti- farmer and anti poor policies to please the big corporate sector in the country.
Addressing a largely attended workers convention at Udhampur today, Mir said that the tall claims and poll promises of BJP were only to hoodwink the poor people for vote bank politics but the falsehood of the Modi Government is exposed as it failed to deliver on a single promise so far. He said that the farmers in the country are committing suicide because of the wrong policies and the failure of the Government to take timely action.
Mir said that during the election campaign Mr Modi promised to bring back the black money from outside country which would benefit every citizen to the tune of over Rs 15 lakh but now more than 11 months have passed nothing has happened. He said that hollow slogans aimed at misleading the general masses were made in Jammu and Kashmir on various issues including the settlement of refugees from West Pakistan and PoK, settlement of border residents in safer zones, relief and rehabilitation of flood and rain affected people, enhancement of cash relief and rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants, reservation of assembly seats for PoK refugees and Kashmiri migrants besides abrogation of Article 370 which has remained a consistent stand of the party.
PCC leader said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought disrespect to the nation by his indecent remarks about the domestic politics of the country abroad. He said that this is unprecedented in the history of the country and it reflects the narrow mind set and insensitivity towards the dignity of the nation.
Senior party leader Sham Lal Sharma alleged that BJP befooled people of Jammu region to secure votes and exploited their sentiments. He questioned the BJP which always raised a slogans of ‘Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishaan, Ek Pradhan’ for its opportunistic alliance with PDP-a votary of ‘Self-Rule’ and common currency with Pakistan.
He said that BJP is shedding crocodile tears on the issue of AIIMS after it stood exposed for betraying the people of Jammu region. He said Congress favours AIIMS in both the regions in view of the peculiar situation of the State as already been acknowledge by setting up two Central Universities by the Congress led UPA Govt.
CLP leader N R Jora also addressed the gathering and criticized BJP-PDP alliance. He said that during 12 years when Congress shared power, the three regions including Jammu and Ladakh got their due share in every sphere of activity including political empowerment. He said BJP and PDP indulged in regional and religious exploitation for enhancing their poll prospects only and joined hands ignoring the aspirations of three regions. Jora said Congress is the only secular unifying force in three regions of the State which has a vision and programme for the unity and integrity and to maintain the atmosphere of peace and harmony.
The convention was also attended by Kanta Bhan, Fakir Nath, Indu Pawar, B S Sambyal, Pranav Shagotra, Pawan Raina, Vijay Manhas, Neeraj Kundan, Ashok Bakshi, Surinder Khajuria, Sanjeev Dubey, Manav Upadhaya, Som Nath and Ravi Shastri.
