NEW DELHI, Dec 1: Senior BJP leader and MLA from Jammu West constituency, Arvind Gupta, today reaffirmed that PoJK (Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir) has always been an integral part of India and will remain so.
He was speaking at a programme organized by the Mirpur Balidan Bhawan Samiti and Jammu-Kashmir People’s Forum (JKPF) at Lajpat Nagar, Delhi, to mark “Shaheedi Diwas” in honor of the sacrifices made by PoJK residents.
Addressing the gathering, Arvind Gupta emphasized the unwavering commitment of the Modi Government towards PoJK refugees. Highlighting the Rs. 2,000 crore package released for the welfare of displaced persons, he revealed that over 26,300 PoJK families residing in Jammu and Kashmir have already received financial assistance. However, he expressed concern over the plight of 5,319 displaced families who are still struggling across various parts of the country due to some bureaucratic hurdles.
“Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s Government has taken historic steps to ensure justice for PoJK refugees. Along with financial support, the commitment to allocate eight Assembly seats for PoJK refugees, as recommended by the 183rd Rajya Sabha Committee led by M. Venkaiah Naidu and the Delimitation Commission, reflects the Government’s resolve to empower them politically,” he asserted.
The programme was attended by notable dignitaries, including former Chief Justices and parliamentarians, who paid tribute to the martyrs of PoJK. Discussions also highlighted the cultural and historical significance of PoJK, with calls to intensify efforts to ensure justice for displaced families.
Arvind Gupta appealed to the concerned officials to expedite the process of rehabilitation for PoJK refugees scattered across the nation. He also expressed gratitude to organizations like Mirpur Balidan Bhawan Samiti for their relentless efforts in keeping alive the legacy and sacrifices of PoJK residents.
The event concluded with heartfelt tribute to the martyrs and a collective resolve to work towards the integration of PoJK into the Indian Union.
