JAMMU, Sept 30: Upliftment of women has direct impact on the development of any society and one cannot even think of the progress in the life of an individual, family or society without their participation.
This was stated by Rajni Sethi, spokesperson of J&K BJP, while addressing media persons, along with senior leader Suresh Jamwal and media secretary, Pardeep Mahotra, at party Headquarter here, today.
Rajni Sethi said that the present BJP Government under Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and the UT administration are making sincere efforts for the welfare of the women folk. She said that during the last seven years, ten crore toilets have been constructed for the convenience of women, Beti Bachao Beti Padao scheme for female child and their survival was launched in the year 2015. Similarly, Women Helpline numbers were started in 2018-19 to help them in need, Pradhan Mantri Ujwala Yojna was launched to provide to provide free gas connections to women, Pradhanmantri Matra Vandana Yojna was launched for women with anaemic and mal- nutritional problems, who were provided financial assistance of rupees five thousand during different periods of pregnancy and an amount of rupees one thousand was also given at the time of delivery of the baby.
She said Sukanya Samridhi Yojna has been availed by large number of women. One Stop Centre (Sakhi) scheme with number 181 is for cases of domestic violence against women, she added.
Rajni Sethi further said that Triple Talaq practice has been banned by BJP Government, which has induced a sense of honour and dignity among Muslim women. Abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A too has given equal rights to women, online complaint Box facility has been started for cases related to sexual harassment of women at work place, domestic level etc. Besides, under Skill Development; training centers for women have been setup. Pre-Marital Counseling has been started by Social Welfare Department. All this speaks of the concern of the Government for the welfare of women, she added.
