JAMMU, Dec 14: General Category People’s Front-Jammu (GCPF-J) has expressed serious concern over the price rise, freezing of DA of Government employees and pensioners and no hike in Medical allowance of the employees for the last over 20 years in J&K.
In a meeting of the Front held here today under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia, the members took stock of various problems of the people. Banathia while speaking on the occasion alleged that economic policy of the Government was not in the interests of the middle- class. He expressed grave concern over the unprecedented price rise, freezing of DA of the Government employees and pensioners. Kumar said setting up of several Toll Plazas in Jammu, increasing unemployment, deteriorating law and order situation and imposition of heavy taxes on government services, is the biggest cause of worry and symbolized betrayal of government.
Yash Paul Sanson, president of the Front alleged that Modi Government has no will power to solve the issue of reservation forever or to end it. He strongly condemned the continuation of the reservation without any review. “As per Supreme Court’s ruling, there is no fundamental right to claim reservation and the states could not be forced to make provisions without data showing imbalances in the reservation of certain communities in public sector,” Sanson added.
Front general secretary, Som Nath Sharma alleged that UT Administration has failed to provide any relief to its employees and pensioners after the abrogation of Article 370. The employees and pensioners are getting just Rs 300 per month as Medical allowance for the last over 20 years. The inflation has increased manifold but unfortunately, the Government has turned blind eye towards this issue of urgent hike in the Medical Allowance of the employees and pensioners in J&K UT. He demanded monetary assistance to the poor and lower middle class people of all the castes and total abolition of reservation system.
V K Sharma, vice president demanded equal treatment to all the people from all the castes and categories and change the negative perception of the Swarn Castes and provide them equal rights and equal opportunities. Several other members of the Front also spoke on the occasion.
