‘Udhampur to get mega drinking water project’

UDHAMPUR, Mar 9: Highlighting various public welfare schemes launched by Narendra Modi Government for the people of J&K, BJP vice president, Pawan Khajuria said that regularisation of colonies for PoJK refugees is one of such a welfare measures in this connection.
Khajuria, while talking to reporters here, today said the previous Governments ignored the refugees totally and they were feeling alienated due to their wrong policies. He, while lambasting the previous State and Central governments said with their anti people policies these refugees were feeling insecure.
He said BJP always supported that such a law should be framed for the welfare of refugees so that they don’t feel alienated. He said the West Pak refugees were not even given the right to vote and citizenship rights, which was the great human rights violation but BJP ended this injustice once for all to which they were subjected.
Besides, it was the BJP Government led by Atal Behari Vajpayee and later by PM, Narendra Modi which sanctioned compensation for the PoJK refugees and Congress failed to do the same in its 60 year rule at Centre.
He complimented the PM Modi and LG Manoj Sinha for regularizing their colonies.
Khajuria also complimented the UT Government for its initiative in solving the drinking water problem of the town and said that after taking up issue with Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha he gave nod to authorities for preparing a project report for ensuring regular drinking water to the people of the town.
Khajura said the people of Udhampur were facing the lot of drinking water scarcity and water is supplied after interval of five to six days which has resulted a hue and cry in the town and adjoining areas.
He said the issue was taken up with Union Minister and MP from Kathua, Udhampur and Doda Lok Sabha constituency, Dr Jitendra Singh and Union Minister Anurag Thakur who too had assured that the problem will be solved.
He said the Lt Governor issued directives to District Development Commissioner, Udhampur asking him to get a project report prepared for improving water supply in the area.
Khajuria said soon he will visit Delhi to get the project approved so that the drinking water crisis for Udhampur are settled once for all.
