JAMMU, Mar 1: BJP today complimented the Government for fulfilling the much awaited genuine demands of SCs, STs and economically weaker sections (EWSs) of the society and termed it a great step for their upliftment and welfare.
For the very first time, prompt measures have been taken to meet the aspirations of all sections of society. This has become possible only due to the decisive governance by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, former Minister and senior BJP leader, Bali Bhagt told reporters here, along with BJP State general secretary, Dr. Narinder Singh and State spokesperson, Balbir Ram Rattan.
Bhagat expressed his gratitude to all the stake holders on behalf of BJP, the SC/ST community and economically weaker sections and said that “we thank the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet and Governor of J&K, Satya Pal Malik for taking prompt decision to meet the aspirations of the people of the State”.
Bhagat said that due to Article 370, the order could not be implemented in the State of J&K along with the other states, but with this step the aspirations of a sizable population have been duly met. He also appreciated the initiatives of state BJP leaders for taking up the issue on every table for quick action.
Bali Bhagat, said that this step will serve the purpose of application of relevant provisions of the Constitution of India, as amended through the Constitution (77th Amendment) Act, 1995 and Constitution (103 Amendment) Act, 2019 for J&K, by issuing the Constitution (Application to J&K) Amendment Order, 2019 by the President under clause (1) of Article 370.
Bhagat further said that after due notification, this will pave the way for giving benefit of promotion in service to the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and also extend the reservation up to 10% for “economically weaker sections” in educational institutions and public employment in addition to the existing reservation in J&K.
Bhagat, also mentioned the extension of benefits to the people residing on the International Border (IB) on the lines of LoC has also been hailed across the circles. He said that this decision is of paramount importance as the IB population is the first and also the worst sufferer of the cross border firing. The reservation in educational institutions and others will help to heal some of their wounds, he added.
