JAMMU, Nov 2: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta reaffirmed that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s Government remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicate terrorism, asserting that no individual or group involved in terror activities will be spared, whether in Jammu & Kashmir or beyond the Union Territory.
Strongly criticizing Dr. Farooq Abdullah’s recent demand for an independent probe into the rise in encounters, the BJP leader condemned the suggestion as “irresponsible” and counterproductive to the security efforts in the region. He stressed that the prevailing security conditions call for seriousness and solidarity, not “baseless conjectures.”
“At a time when our security forces are tirelessly working to neutralize terrorist threats, it is disheartening to witness statements that cast unnecessary doubt on their dedication. The increase in encounters is a direct result of intensified anti-terror operations essential for safeguarding citizens and restoring peace,” he said in a statement issued here today.
Expressing dismay over what he termed as insinuations of alleged collusion, Kavinder emphasized that Farooq Abdullah’s statements are misleading and risk undermining the morale of security personnel. “These remarks not only weaken the resolve of our forces, who risk their lives everyday, but they also dishearten the people of J&K, who are eager to see an end to terror,” he said.
The senior BJP leader also highlighted what he called the hypocrisy in Farooq’s stance, noting that the Modi government’s proactive approach has led to substantial growth in tourism and business in the region. “The Modi government has made relentless efforts to uplift the region’s economy, create job opportunities, and foster peace. Our forces remain vigilant to ensure that this progress is not derailed by any terror activities,” he added.
Reaffirming the need for unity in support of anti-terror initiatives, Kavinder asked Farooq Abdullah and other leaders to rally behind the Central Government’s efforts instead of questioning them. “This is a time to stand with our forces and honour their sacrifices. I urge Dr. Farooq Abdullah and other leaders to act responsibly and set aside political motives for the greater goal of achieving lasting peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
