JAMMU, Aug 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President J P Nadda, Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, G Kishan Reddy, Dr Jitendra Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are among 40 star campaigners of the party for BJP candidates for the scheduled General Elections to the Legislative Assembly in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.

Besides the BJP national leaders and Union Ministers, MPs Jugal Kishore Sharma and Ghulam Ali Khatana, J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina, Organizing Secretary (Org) Ashok Koul, Dr Narinder Singh, Sunil Sharma, Devender Singh Rana and Sham Lal Sharma are among the local leaders in the list of campaigners.
Interestingly, former Ministers Dr Nirmal Singh, Kavinder Gupta and Sukhnandan Choudhary, who have been purportedly denied mandate by the party this time, are also among the official campaigners for BJP candidates.
A list of 40 BJP leaders, who would be participating in the election campaign pertaining to the current General Elections to the Legislative Assembly in J&K for Phase-I, has been forwarded by the party to the Election Commission of India in fulfillment of Explanation (2) to Section 77 of the Representation of People Act 1951.
According to a communication in this regard, forwarded by BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh to CEC Rajiv Kumar, the list may be treated as valid for the remaining Legislative Assembly constituencies figuring in Schedule 2 and 3 for the State of J&K, unless an amended list within the prescribed time limit is forwarded.
Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Manohar Lal Khattar, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Ram Madhav, Tarun Chugh, Ashish Sood, Jai Ram Thakur, Anurag Thakur, Smriti Irani, Gen (Retd) V K Singh, Trilok Jamwal (Himachal Pradesh), Arun Prabhat Singh, Neelam Langeh, S Ranjodh Singh Nalwa, S Sarbjit Singh Johal, Dananther Singh Kotwal, Sangita Bhagat, Haji Javeed Zargar, Sofi Yousuf, Mohammad Anwar Khan and Sanjita Dogra are other official campaigners of BJP for the party candidates in the scheduled Assembly elections.
Pertinent to mention that the Representation of People Act provides that expenditure incurred by the star campaigners on account of travel by air or any other means of transport for campaigning for their political party shall not be deemed to be part of the election expenditure of a candidate of such party.
