NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina on Thursday flagged off a new train service between Kolkata and Khulna via video conference.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister said, “protocol” should not come between two neighbouring sides.
“There should be enhanced people to people connectivity,” he said. The Prime Minister greeted the people of Bangladesh in Bangla and said: “aaj amader maitri bandhan aro shubhod holo (Today our ties have been enhanced further)”. “Kolkata-Dhaka connectivity has been made possible today, this will ensure hassle-free and comfortable travel for people – this is a result of the shared vision between Bangladesh and India,” Mr Modi said.
