JAMMU, July 24: A meeting of Forum of Recognised Colleges (FORCE) was held, which was chaired by former Minister and President of the Forum Harbans Singh.
RS Chib, Patron FORCE, KuldeepWahi, Senior Vice President, Manmeet Singh, Treasurer, Ashok Khajuria, Sanjiv Gupta, Gambhir Singh, Khalid Jahangir Malik, SK Puri, CL Tikkoo, Ved Parkash Vaid, Rajinder Kumar, Koushal Kumar and Pardeep Singh also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the participants said that with the timely intervention of NN Vohra, Governor and Chancellor of Jammu as well as Kashmir Universities, the admission to BEd/MEd Courses as per the recommendations of Justice Verma Commission based on the directions of Supreme Court of India has been modified by Kashmir University at par with Jammu University.
They said that announcement of modification order for Kashmir regarding BEd and MEd Courses is victory of students.
The members expressed their full confidence that by enhancing the duration of BEd, the teachers of tomorrow will be better qualified and will be a source of strength for future generations.
The members hoped that the Universities will take care of genuine requirements of the colleges including their intakes, in order to ensure their economic viability.
They added that the J&K Government after understanding the demands of the students of Jammu Province equated the admission criteria for the subject courses in respect of both the sister universities.
It was also felt by the members that the positive advice by the Vice-Chancellors of Kashmir and Jammu University, in resolving this sensitive issue raised by the students of Jammu province, cannot be lost sight of.
