Modi’s solar power scheme can bring revolution: Khatana

JAMMU, May 30: In these scorching hot days of Summer where power shutdown has become a routine in Jammu, the senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Gulam Ali Khatana has said that revolutionary scheme launched by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi regarding solar energy can be a game changer in this regard.
“Solar power can be used for residential power consumption, commercial purpose in industries and other business organisations and also in agriculture,” he said adding: “Solar pumps can be of immense use in irrigating agriculture fields and the officers concerned should aware the public on all such schemes and subsidies linked with these.”
He said that solar power only needs the rays of Sun to lit our homes and to cool our rooms apart from performing other household tasks at home.
In a handout, the BJP leader further said that similarly power generated from wind energy has improved the power scenario in Ladakh.
“The officers of concerned departments should open their offices at district level to aware the public regarding solar energy scheme of the Government and to redress problems and issues in this regard at local level itself,” Khatana maintained.
He said that solar power can run motors to irrigate our agriculture fields apart from performing well in industries and there is no smoke or pollution due to this alternate source of energy.
“The officers concerned in J&K should display pro-activeness and ensure that the facility of solar power reaches to every household as early as possible so that load on hydel power and other conventional sources of energy can be reduced,” the BJP leader maintained.
