SRINAGAR, Aug 4: Hitting out at both State and Central Governments for playing politics over AIIMS issue, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) vice president G N Monga (MLC) today demanded IIT, IIM and IIMC for Kashmir region.
“Congress party’s stand is clear. We support the demand of AIIMS for Jammu, but at the same time we demand that Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) be established in Kashmir for equitable progress in the State,” Monga said in a press statement.
He also asked the Government to make it clear where and when it is establishing the AIIMS in Kashmir. “Till now the announcement of AIIMS in Kashmir is limited to papers only. Government should without any further delay notify where the premier health institute is being established and what progress has been made,” he demanded.
Accusing coalition partners PDP and BJP of playing communal and regional card over the AIIMS issue, he said that divisive politics was most dangerous for the sensitive State like J&K.
He said there is urgent need to maintain regional balance and work on equitable development and employment generation in both the regions of the State.
