More Industrial Estates in Jammu soon: Kichloo

JAMMU, June 4: Minister of State for Industries and Commerce Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo today said that the Government has decided to develop more Industrial Estates in Jammu and its peripheries as part of the industrial promotion policy.
“The process for establishing more Industrial Estates in Jammu has been started and for the purpose the Government is looking for suitable sites”, the Minister told a deputation of Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) led by President Y. V. Sharma here today.
The Minister said that the Government was keen to promote commerce and industry sector in the State and said that every possible effort was being made to create congenial atmosphere for its growth.
Responding to the demand of the deputation for establishing more Industrial Estates in Jammu, the Minister said that the process of land identification is on and the Government will soon establish more industrial estates in Jammu and adjoining district.
Threadbare discussion was held on various issues raised by the deputation which mainly included VAT refund on raw material through SICOP, creation of new Industrial Estate, Green Corridor for industry trucks at newly inaugurated Toll Plaza at Lakhanpur, land ownership rights to industrial units and power amnesty for revival of sick industrial units.
President JCCI Y. V Sharma hoped that the Government would consider the demands on priority keeping in view the urgent need of promoting Industry sector in the state. He also demanded to bring the process for registration of Industry under the Public Services Guarantee Act to make it time bound.
The Chamber of Commerce also demanded start of Cross border trade through Suchetgarh international border on the pattern of Chakein-de- Bagh in Poonch. He also reminded the minister about the Government’s commitment to set up Railway coach factory in Jammu. He also demanded for construction of another Ware House.
Commissioner Secretary Industries & Commerce Shantmanu, Director Industry and Commerce G. A Qureshi, Managing Director SICOP R. L. Tikoo, MD SIDCO Mozam, were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, the Minister met with the deputation of Kashmir Migrant Industrial Units Holders Association.
The Association presented a memorandum to Minister regarding rehabilitation of Migrant Entrepreneurs in the Valley.
They demanded revival of their damaged Industrial units in the Valley which now in most of the cases stands completely destroyed. They demanded for compensation for partially /totally damaged units.
The Minister assured the deputation that the Government would initiate every step to meet their demands.
