JAMMU, July 16: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today declared that moiré homeless people will be allotted land for construction of houses under Prime Minister’s Awas Yojana (PMAY) and maintained that decision to allot land to the landless people was taken after proper survey as he ridiculed those trying to instigate people on the issue.
He expressed gratitude to administration and local people who are selflessly working to make annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath Ji a success and pleasant experience for those going on yatra.
Sinha was addressing monthly ‘Awaam Ki Awaaz’ Radio programme which is aired on every third Sunday of the month.
Describing as “historic” the decision of Jammu and Kashmir administration to allot 5 marlas land to landless people and house under PMAY, Sinha said some persons through Social Media are trying to mislead the people. The decision is aimed at helping weak and deprived class of Jammu and Kashmir for their prosperous future.
“Many people were eligible for PMAY but they had no land. As many as 2711 people were identified for allotment of land after proper survey,” he said, adding their dream of having their own house will be fulfilled.
He declared that more people will be allotted land and number of those getting houses under PMAY will go up.
The Lieutenant Governor called upon all the sections of the society to remain vigilant against the elements who are misleading the people on the name of outsiders and working against interests of the poor.
“People should not remain hostage to the past. We must join the transformational journey of the present to build a golden future of J&K,” he said and added “youth are our hope and all arms of Government must work as a team to provide them all the essential support.
Asserting that Jammu and Kashmir has been marching ahead towards its development journey under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Lieutenant Governor said some people want to keep the UT tied with conflict but added that they won’t succeed.
“Jammu and Kashmir has been developing and all sections of society are getting benefitted,” he said, adding poor and deprived classes are our priority.
Sinha said he has been meeting pilgrims and Sevadaars of Shri Amarnath Ji for past few days and Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) and administration are fully prepared to ensure good pilgrimage.
Notwithstanding harsh weather conditions, he said, the administration and people have shown courage to make the yatra a success.
Sinha expressed gratitude to all those who are selflessly working to make Amarnath pilgrimage a pleasant experience.
“The pious Yatra inspires us to build a bright future for Jammu and Kashmir, rooted in human dignity, social equality and justice,” he said dedicating the programme to the local people and all the stakeholders engaged in the holy Amarnath Yatra.

He added that Food security to poor people is among the nation’s fundamental civilisational values. Prime Minister’s Food Supplementation for Priority Households Scheme would benefit a large section of society and it will ensure their well-being, he added.
Sinha made a special mention of Shakir Ahmad, Adnan Mushtaq and Furqan Rashid, students of GHSS, Kreeri, Baramulla who have developed an Apple Grader and are inspiring others to fulfill their dreams.
“I feel proud when I see that young boys and girls are working on new inventions, innovations with enthusiasm”, he said.
Sometimes the unknown and a new path create fear in our mind. By breaking free of the fear, the youth of J&K are charting a path to success and scripting their own destiny through entrepreneurship, he observed.
One of such inspirations is Safina Mushtaq of Baramulla who started with mushroom cultivation and subsequently diversified in flower seedling and protected cultivation. With her zeal, she carved out a successful career in agri-business, the Lt Governor said.
Another youth Sandur Kumar from Reasi is a shining example of a successful Agri-preneur. Today, he has developed a sustainable business model by combining three areas of mushroom cultivation, beekeeping and dairy.
Peerzada Muqeem, a Post-Graduate in Diplomacy Law and Business tapped the huge business potential of Dairy farming. With a milk processing plant and future action plans, Muqeem is scripting his own success story, the Lt Governor said.
Sharing the suggestions of Shruti Arora, a voice artist from Jammu; Srinagar’s GR Ahangar; Rajendra Prasad, Sumit Puri and Rajeshwar Singh from Jammu and Muneeb Mushtaq from Anantnag regarding promotion of voice artists and ghazalists in J&K, public participation in urban governance, Inclusive Smart City and community participation, Sinha directed the concerned departments to take appropriate action.
He also voiced the inputs received from Jammu’s Loviesh Kumar, Mudasir Ahmad Mir from Shopian, Veena Jamwal from Samba and Preeti Sharma, a textile artist from Jammu on strengthening the role of Panchayati Raj Institutions in Smart villages and promotion of Textile Art in Jammu and Kashmir.
More than 41,000 citizens have joined the MYGOVJK platform and are voicing their opinion on various topics. Enthusiastic response on these idea-feedback platforms has strengthened public participation in the policy-making, he said.
The Lt Governor also congratulated Dheeraj Bismil and Nighat Nasreen on winning the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar 2023 for their rich contributions to Dogri and Kashmiri languages, and Balwan Singh Jamoria on winning the Bal Sahitya Puraskar.
