More than 2500 ltrs illicit liquor destroyed, 4 arrested

JAMMU, May 16: Police destroyed more than 2500 litres of illicit liquor and arrested four persons.
As per police sources, special team of Arnia Police Station led by SHO Inspector Harjeet Singh under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Shabir khan raided a dozen locations and destroyed illicit liquor as well as the logistics of making this poisonous substance.
Subsequently, a case has been lodged at Police Station Arnia after identification of the persons who were in the habit of making this substance.
Police has set a process of identification of the land owners whose land is being used for making this illicit liquor and a suitable legal action will follow in near future.
Further investigation of the case is going on.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Basohli during checking near Atal Setu Bridge apprehended a person along with 14 bottles of illicit liquor.
The arrested person was identified as Ajay Kumar, son of Hans Raj of Ward Number 6 Basohli.
A case under FIR Number 32/2021 under Sections 260, 270 and 188 IPC and 50 Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Basohli and investigation initiated.
However, a team from Police Station Rajbagh apprehended two persons along with 20 bottles of illicit liquor.
The arrested persons were identified as Ranjit Singh, son of Sat Paul and Vijay Kumar, son of Tarseem Lal, residents of District Pathankot Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 73/2021 under Sections 269, 270 and 188 IPC and 50 (I) Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Rajbagh and investigation started.
In another similar case, a team from Police Station Akhnoor led by SHO Inspector Hilal Azhar conducted raid and apprehended a man along with 15 litres of illicit liquor.
The accused has been identified as Tilak Raj, son of Mahinder Lal, a resident of Jad, Tehsil Akhnoor District Jammu.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation initiated.
