More than 40 cr accounts opened under PMJDY in 6 yrs: Javadekar

NEW DELHI, Aug 29:
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar here on Saturday said Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) has created a “revolution” as over 40 crore accounts have been opened in last six years and beneficiaries are receiving 100 per cent amount being transferred.
”Jan Dhan account is nothing but a revolution 40,00,00,000 accounts in six years, ” Mr Javadekar wrote on his twitter handle.
He alleged that during Congress tenure at the Centre, only Rs 15 out of Rs 100 used to finally reach into the accounts of the poor.
”Earlier Congress PM used to say ,that I send hundred rupees but people receive only Rs.15. Now Modi govt. sends hundred rupees and people receive hundred rupees (sic),” the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister said.
Modi government’s flagship financial inclusion programme–PMJDY–completed six years on Friday. With an aim to provide universal access to banking facilities to the people in the country, 40.35 crore accounts have been opened in six years under the scheme. (PTI)
