JAMMU, Dec 23: In order to create awareness among the masses regarding traffic rules and minimize the human loss due to accidents on roads, Jammu Police in collaboration with Iron Hawks (Young Bikers Group) organized two wheeler rally to pledge on road safety here today.
The rally, which started early this morning from various locations like Hiranagar, Samba, R S Pura, Nagrota, Gharota, Akhnoor, Talab Tillo and Bishnah, culminated at M A Stadium. In this rally more than 4000 bikers and people from all walks of life took part.
In the rally, Minister of State for Home Nasir Aslam Wani, DGP Ashok Prasad, Additional DG Law and Order K Rajendra Kumar, IGP Jammu Zone Dilbag Singh, IG Traffic Munir Khan, DIG J P Singh, DIG Traffic S A Beig, DIG IRP, DIG AP, SSP Jammu, SP Samba, SP Traffic, SSP PCR, SSP Telecom, Zonal SPs, SDPOs of district Jammu, SDPO Bari-Brahmana, KAS officer Bhumesh Sharma, presidents/representatives of Industrial Associations, Taxi, Tanker and Matadoor Union and dare devil police team took part.
MoS Home, DGP, Additional DG Law and Order, IGP Jammu Zone, IG Traffic, DIG Jammu and DIG Traffic also made a round in the whole city on their bikes to spread the message on traffic awareness among the general public.
At MA Stadium, a documentary film and photograph exhibition on fatal accidents prepared by KAS officer Bhumesh Sharma, who has even authored some books on road safety, was displayed. A Compact Disc on road accidents also prepared by Bhumesh Sharma was also released by the dignitaries on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam Wani stressed upon the masses to adhere to the traffic rules and regulations strictly. He appreciated the initiative of Jammu Police for organizing this awareness programme, which culminated with a great success. He also lauded Bhumesh Sharma for generating awareness about the road safety.
IGP Dilbag Singh highlighted the importance of organizing two wheeler rally and said this initiative was aimed at creating awareness among the general masses especially youth as hundreds of innocent precious lives are lost in the accidents and 90% of these accidents are occurring due to human error.
He further said that more such rallies would be organized in future for drivers of matadors, buses, trucks, auto-rickshaws and other vehicles.
Dr Rajinder Singh, Associate Professor Orthopedic, Government Medical College Jammu advised the participants to take all precautions while driving on the roads.
