Mortar shell found near Katra

KATRA, Mar 17: A live mortar shell was found in a forest area under the jurisdiction of Katra Police Station, here today.
The mortar shell, found at Kaalsha Khadd near Aarli village, was diffused on the spot by a Bomb Disposal Squad, which rushed to the spot immediately after getting information about the same. Click here to watch video
The shell was rusted to great extent and seemed to be lying there since long. “Few years back, an Army firing range was in the area and they used to conduct regular exercise. It might have been left abandoned since then,” said SP Katra Naresh Singh, adding that the Bomb Disposal Squad successfully diffused the mortar shell, which was still live.
The abandoned shell was spotted by some locals of village Pardoh around 1300 hours, who brought the matter into the notice of Katra Police Station and subsequently the Bomb Disposal Squad was rushed to the spot.
