MoS Health assures strict action against guilty

SRINAGAR, Mar 28: Day after three patients died in District Hospital Baramulla allegedly due to medical negligence leading to protests against Health Department, Minister of State for Health, Asiya Naqash visited the hospital and assured strict action against the guilty.
The minister inspected the hospital after family members of the deceased alleged that the patients admitted in the hospital died due to contaminated drip-sets and glucose.
The deceased were identified as Sumandar Faqeer, 70, of Boniyar, Hajra Begum, 70, and Bakthi Begum, 65, from Rafiabad area.
The attendants said that these patients developed major complications immediately after the drip was injected to them. “Patients start shivering after the drip was injected to them,” they alleged, adding, the attendants informed the staff members’, but there was no timely response from their side.
As the news about the death of these patients spread in the town, people came out on roads and protested against Hospital authorities, prompting district administration to visit the hospital to take stock of the situation.
Earlier, Riyaz Ahmad Wani, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla told reporters that he visited the hospital and sealed the drip-sets and other drugs.
Medical Superintendent District Hospital Baramulla Dr. Bashir Ahmed Chalkoo said these deaths are natural and glucose was not injected to them.
The minister assured that guilty would be taken to task after proper enquiry. “We will reshuffle (transfer) all the overstaying doctors and para-medics from their posting to new places,” she said, adding, there was need to make the Health Department error free.
