Srinagar, June 22: The Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar today inaugurated an additional 20-bedded facility at civil hospital Pahalgam and also took a review of Amarnath Yatra arrangements.
The MoS inaugurated the 20-bedded additional facility at the Civil Hospital in presence of Director Health Services Kashmir Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, CMO Anantnag Dr. Mohd. Yousuf Zagoo.
On the occasion, the MoS said that the additional 20 bedded facility will help to decongest the nearby hospitals and will provide relief to the patients besides yatris.
The Union Minister also reviewed the Amarnath Yatra arrangements including the setting of base hospitals ahead of the Amarnath Yatra which begin on June 31.
While reviewing yatra arrangements, MoS was informed by the Director about the yatra arrangements made by the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir.
Dr. MA Rather informed the MoS that all the arrangements are in place and up-gradation of facilities have been made this year besides the routine facilities which used to be available en route the yatra.
The Director said that this year two DRDO hospitals are being made operational for yatris while the doctors and paramedics within and outside the UT will also be put into service for the yatra.
The director also informed the MoS that the DHSK has trained 300 doctors and paramedical staff at the Regional Institute of Health &Family Welfare (RIHFW), Dhobiwan under the ‘Training of Trainers’ program in High Altitude.
DHSK said that like every year, the directorate will deploy hundreds of health care workers for Yatra duties and to provide the best medical services to the devotees at make-shift hospitals.
