Accident shatters family of daily wager

KISHTWAR, July 9: In yet another tragic road accident on the notorious roads of erstwhile Doda district, four persons of a family including a mother, her two daughters and a son lost their lives while the father along with his daughter were left injured when the car they were on board skidded off the road and landed in a deep gorge in mountainous Dachhan area here today.

The ill fated car was of Alto make bearing registration number JK01K-5426 and it was on way to Dachhan from Srinagar and it met with an accident on reaching Tunder area.
The deceased in the accident were identified as Fatima Begum, 36, wife of Iflal Wani; Madiya Wani, 10, daughter of Iflal Wani; Altmash Wani, 5 months, son of Iflal Wani and Radia Banoo, 4, daughter of Iflal Wani-all residents of Sounder Dachhan.
Bodies of the deceased were shifted to Sounder Dachhan.
Injured in the accident were identified as Iflal Wani, 40, son of Sanaulah Wani and his daughter Khatija Banoo, 7.

The injured father-daughter were shifted from DH Kishtwar to SKIMS Srinagar for better treatment.
However, Police has registered a case in this regard and started investigation.
Union MoS Dr. Jitendra Singh has expressed shock over the tragic accident. On social media platform X (former Twitter), he posted: “I am in constant touch with DC #Kishtwar, Dr Devansh Yadav following tragic road accident in which a private Alto vehicle rolled down a deep gorge at Dachan area leading to loss of 4 lives and injuries to 2.”
SSP Kishtwar, Abdul Qayoom when contacted informed that Iflal Wani, whose family was hit by the tragic accident works as a daily wager in some Government department and he was returning with his family from Srinagar and was proceeding towards Dachhan in Kishtwar.
He further said that condition of Iflal Wani was stable but his daughter was critical and both were shifted to SKIMS Srinagar for better treatment.
