JAMMU, Mar 16: The mother of late Karan Kumar Sharma, a student of BBA at Degree College, Udhampur today pleaded for impartial probe into the death of her son, who according to her was murdered by his four friends by drowning him into the river of Baba Pehad.
Addressing the media persons, here today, the mother of the deceased Karan Kumar Sharma, Usha Sharma alleged that his son was murdered by his four friends namely Pradeep Singh and Vicky Singh (both residents of Udhampur) and Rajan Sharma and Nitin Kumar (both residents of Jammu), who invited her son to Baba Pehad Sthan on the pretext of picnic, where they forcibly pushed him into the deep waters, knowing that he (Karan) did not know how to swim.
Frightened of drowning, Karan cried for help but instead of rescuing him his friends fled from the spot leaving their belongings, she said, adding Karan’s body was fished out of the river after three days of the incident and investigations by the BSF personnel revealed that the incident took place due to forced provocation by Nitin to enter Karan into water.
She lamented that even after the lapse of over two and half years of time, police have failed to book the culprits involved in the incident. She said till date neither any information about the progress of the case was given to them nor any investigation officer bothered to visit their house regarding the case.
The mother expressed surprise that only Jammu boys were kept in police custody for few days whereas Udhampur boys were let off by the police. She suspected that perhaps Udhampur boys managed to influence the police with some support from political leaders.
The bereaved mother urged the DGP,  IGP Crime and other concerned officers to probe into the matter impartially, book the culprits involved and punish them as per the law of the State.
