NEW DELHI, Apr 2: President Pranab Mukherjee today said it is very necessary to motivate children and youth to reflect on the great Nation that is India.
“I firmly believe that the first step in this direction would be to have a clear understanding of the historical, political, social and economic aspects of our freedom struggle and the national priorities hat guided the framing of our Constitution,” the President said congratulating the Winners of the ‘Tata Building India School Essay Competition’ for the years 2010-11 and 2011-12.
On the occasion, the President said he was confident that participation of students in national level initiatives such as Tata Building India School Essay Competition would inculcate in them a sustained commitment to the country and that they would play a proactive and positive role in its development as a great Nation.
The ‘Tata Building India School Essay Competition’ is an initiative of the Tata Group to motivate school children to think positively about the country by writing an essay on a topic of nation building.
Instituted in 2006, as an English language competition in six cities with one lakh students, the competition has grown rapidly with two million students now participating each year. (UNI)
