Motor Transport Companies, Agents’ plea to Transport Commissioner

JAMMU, Feb 25: All J&K Motor Transport Companies Representatives/Agents Association held a meeting under the chairmanship of its president Gajjan Singh.
While speaking, Gajjan Singh said that 8 officers from SRTC working on deputation in RTO Office were repatriated to their parent department but till date no officers have been posted on their places, which has hampered the working of the RTO Office and causing hardships to transporters and general public.
Singh said that as the current financial year is coming to end and the transporters could not get their papers renewed due to lack of proper staff in RTO Office.
He further stated that the for the past two months, the license cards are not available in the RTO Office, which has added more sufferings to those, who have deposited their same for renewal as the receipts issued by the RTO Office are not being considered.
Singh appealed to the Transport Commissioner to ensure availability of license cards in the RTO office for issuance of valid licenses to the operators concerned, installation of more token stalls to meet the requirements of the transporters, early posting of staff, ban on entrance of the unauthorized agents and suitable accommodation for the authorized agents.
Among others present were general secretary Govinder Singh Prince, vice president Girdhari Lal, secretary Raj Kumar Khajuria, Yash Sharma, Sukhmohinder Singh and newly elected Chairman Farman Ali.
