BHADERWAH, Apr 11: The sleuths of Forest Department here today seized illegal timber and a motorcycle used in shifting the wood.
Sources informed that on getting specific inputs, Range Officer Neeru, Block Officer Dandi-II along with concerned field staff laid a Naka at Tapri, Mathola where at around 11 pm two men carrying deodar scants on a motorcycle of Pulsar make were intercepted.
On seeing Naka the bikers managed to flee from the spot taking advantage of the darkness leaving behind the motorcycle and the deodar scants.
The Forest team seized three deodar scants along with the motor cycle bearing registration number JK02AF9183.
The seizure was bought to the Division Office Bhaderwah and a case with number 02/2025-26/RON has been registered under relevant Sections of Indian Forest Act 1927 in Neeru Range.
The whole operation was carried out under the supervision of Devinder Kumar, DFO Bhaderwah and Sandeep Kumar, Conservator of Forests, Chenab Circle, Doda.
