RAMBAN, July 11: Ramban Police today arrested a motorcycle rider and recovered 15 kilogram contraband (Poppy straw) from his possession.
“A team of Police Station Ramban led by SHO Inspector Vijay Kotwal intercepted a Jammu bound motorcycle bearing registration number DL3SAY-3973 at special Police Naka established on National Highway in Ramban,” a police spokesman said.
He said during checking 15 kg contraband (Poppy straw) was recovered from the bike rider identified as Pritam Singh son of Sardara Singh, resident of village boot, Subhanpur tehsil and district Kapurthala of Punjab.
“A case FIR Number 167 of 2024 under sections 8/15 NDPS was registered at Police Station Ramban and the accused arrested,” the spokesman said, adding, investigation of the case was going on to prove backward and forward linkages.
