JAMMU, Nov 7: In a significant step towards fostering academic excellence and industry collaboration, the Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), Jammu, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bureau of Indian Standards, Jammu (BIS-Jammu).
The MoU was signed by Principal GCET Jammu, Prof Sameru Sharma in the presence of Ashish Kumar Devedi, representative from BIS-Jammu and various faculty members from GCET Jammu. The occasion was marked by the presence of Sohan Lal, Registrar GCET Jammu; Prof Simmi Dutta, Head, Department of Computer Science Engineering; Prof Subhash Chander Dubey, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering; Er Sanjeev Gupta, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering; Dr Raman Gupta, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry; Dr Heera Saini, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Mathematics, and Er Surjit Singh, Senior Laboratory Technician.
Expressing gratitude for the collaboration, Prof Sameru Sharma thanked BIS-Jammu for the healthy relationship with GCET Jammu established over the past one and a half years. The MoU signifies a commitment to collaboration in organizing workshops, exposure visits, and industrial visits for students in various industry players within the state. As a result of this collaboration, students at GCET Jammu will benefit from enhanced growth opportunities and exposure to real-world industry practices. The workshops and visits organized by BIS-Jammu will provide valuable insights into the functioning of various industries in the statre, contributing to the holistic development of the students.
The entire event was coordinated by Dr Rajinder Singh, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, and Mentor of Standards Club at GCET Jammu. GCET Jammu is now the third technical institution in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, alongside IIT Jammu and NIT Srinagar, to have signed an MoU with BIS-Jammu. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to academic excellence, industry relevance and the overall development of the students.
