JAMMU, Nov 18: ICAR-National Research Centre for Banana (NRCB), Trichy is collaborating with SASTRA Deemed University, Thanjavur, for joint exchange of knowledge and research infrastructure.
The Director of ICAR-NRCB, Dr S Uma and the Registrar of SASTRA Deemed University, Dr R Chandramouli exchanged the MoU at NRCB campus.
Both the institutions have agreed to exchange their ideas and expertise for developing applications in agriculture, biotechnology, nanotechnology and other fields such as sensor development for insect, pest, disease and maturity detection, pesticide spraying drones, remote sensing, artificial intelligence and machine learning applications for Banana cultivation, synthesis of composite materials from banana by-products and many more engineering devices and technologies for imparting precision agriculture in banana through technical collaboration by enlisting the students for internship and post graduate research programmes towards the benefit of farming community.
Similarly, the nano-facility, animal house, pharma applications will broaden the research output of ICAR-NRCB by doing in vivo studies.
During the occasion, scientists from ICAR-NRCB, Dean and faculty of various disciplines from SASTRA Deemed University participated in scientific discussion to explore the future scope of collaborative research.
