UDHAMPUR, Apr 4: Highlighting their local issues and demands, inhabitants of tehsil Moungri held a strong protest demonstration in front of Tehsil office Moungri.
They raised slogans in support of their demands and also submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, through Tehsildar Moungri. They were demanding repair of roads, adequate teachers in the schools, release of pending MGNREGA payment to labourers, rehabilitation of the victims of Saddal land sliding, installation of solar lights at unelectrified houses, etc.
A number of people from different Panchyats under tehsil Moungri assembled at the tehsil Headquarters and held demonstration highlighting their demands. In the memorandum, submitted to the Tehsildar, they alleged shortage of staff in schools, no release of the pending payment of labourers who worked under MGNREGA during last three years, especially in Panchyat Damnote and Lali.
Highlighting bad state of roads, the people said that the condition of Kainthgali-Khourgali- Bariote road has turned from bad to worse as it has been neglected for the years together with the results that public was suffering badly and there were apprehension of more accidents.
Moreover Moungri to Ladda PMGSY Road is blocked for the last more than 20 days and the same needs to be cleared on war footing level in the interest of general public, they said and also demanded replacement of the old buses from this area with new SRTC buses.
Others demands, highlighted in the memorandum, included ; completion of construction work of Thatli Nallah and Kandoli nallah, correction of Ration card form and issuance thereof, release of wages of cook in different schools, completion of long pending works of PHC Damnote and PHC Ladda, infrastructure at newly construction Dak Bunglow at Khourgali and Bariote.
