JAMMU, Apr 17: Mountaineering Association of J&K today released the Calendar of Activities of the association for the current fiscal.
The calendar of activities was released by BR Sharma, Home Secretary, in presence of Ram Khajuira, general secretary, Yogeshwar Kumar, vice president, Dr Sonam Angchuk, MD Naqqash, Rakesh Goswami and Sonam Sidharth.
The calendar includes a Mountaineering Expedition to Matho Kangri in Ladakh besides 13 trekking expeditions in Kishtwar, Sonamarg, Pahalgam, Zanskar and Leh in J&K and Chamba, Kangra and Manali areas in Himachal Pradesh.
A unique feature of the calendar was to organise a three day Adventure Film Festival at Jammu, in which world class adventure films in mountaineering, rock and sports climbing, skiing, white water sports and allied games would be screened.
The association has planned to organise J&K State Sports Climbing Competition in the month of April and May at Udhampur, Reasi, Jammu, Rajouri, Samba and Kathua district.
The association will also conduct a number of coaching camps in sport climbing at Sprawling Buds School and MNDP School, RS Pura for beginners and at Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi for experienced climbers.
The association intends to host the first Junior North Sport Climbing Championship in September and the matter is being pursued with the IMF North Zone Committee and J&K State Sports Council.
