JAMMU, Oct 4: Movement Kalki and Gau Raksha Organisation have expressed concern over cow protection.
In a press conference here today Kaushal Sharma, Board Member of the Movement and president Gau Raksha Organisation claimed that incidents of animal trafficking in Jammu city are on rise.
Kaushal Sharma said that they have been working tirelessly to raise awareness on this issue for a long time and have staged many protest demonstrations in this regard.
“We have repeatedly demanded that strict laws should be enacted to prevent animal trafficking,” he maintained adding; “Currently 200 to 250 trucks are still being used to illegally transport animals daily and some police officials are also involved in this wrong doing.”
Sharma claimed that officers seized one truck and claimed that they have foiled a trafficking attempt but the same vehicle was released for trafficking the very next day.
He further claimed that some Police Stations earn Rs. 15-20 lakh per month through animal trafficking.
“The government should seriously consider strict action against these corrupt officials,” Sharma continued.
He informed that Shankaracharya Ji has initiated ‘Gau Pratishtha Andolan’ which will reach Jammu on October 22.
